Chris Rock Talks to Oprah About "Good Hair"

The Queen of Talk, Oprah Winfrey will be chatting it up with Comedian Chris Rock tomorrow on her show.

He will be promoting his new anticipated movie "Good Hair." A funny, yet sometime serious look at the way African Americans look at their hair.

Solange Knowles will also make an appearance with her new do. Remember a couple months a go she chopped all her dresses off?

The First Black Princess

The First Black Princess will make her debut in the animated Walt Disney film, "The Frog and the Princess.

According to imbd.com, the movie is a fairy tale about Princess Tiana living in Jazzy New Orleans. They also listed it's release date for this December.

The voice of Tiana will be Anika Noni Rose co-star of "Dreamgirls" and the HBO series "The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency."

Other celeb voices include, Terrance Howard, John Goodman, Kevin David and Oprah Winfrey.

Carols Daughter is Going Disney

The oh so popular Carol's Daughter's natural beauty line is doing business with Disney. The beauty line has just sealed a deal with Disney to make a bath and body line for the introduction of the first African-American Princess.

How fab is that?

Princess Tiana will make her introduction on November 25Th for an animated film.

The line will include hair detangler, conditioner, shampoo and of course bubble bath. Founder and President, Lisa Price will of course continue with the natural healthy ingredients like aloe, cranberry extract and other natural oils.

Tyra's Liberation: The Talk Show Host Chop's it Up with Larry King

Yes. . here is another post about Tyra.
Sorry. . its the latest thing. . :) She sat down with Larry King on his show and talked about her "dewigging" show. She shared that her hair is chemically altered, but she wanted to show the real her.
Banks also discussed the buzz surrounding her weight some time ago.

New Find: Voda Artisanal Soaps and Herbal Bodycare

Chello Peeps. . I found this site called Voda. I thought it looked pretty neat. . so of course I had to pass it on to you.:) They sell these handmade unique looking soaps.

According to the site, they use base oils like organic olive and cocoa butter. Some of the different soaps have some interesting names like neptune, medicine woman and eastern beauty....................... interesting. ..

I must admit. . looking around the site. . some of the products look a little pricey. .. but hey . . its your call. I'm honestly a junkie for some good beauty products. . I love them. . :)

They also sell bath salts, lip balm and body butters.

New Season, No Wig

The fifth season of "The Tyra Banks Show" kicks off on September 8th and according to Essence.com and other media outlets, Tyra will be unlacing her fronts and going all nat-ture-alllll with her real hair.

That's right. .. no more pricey lacefront wigs.

The former supermodel says "this season on The Tyra Show we're taking it to the next level and getting more real than ever before by encouraging women everywhere to own and rock what they've got and be proud."

Banks is declaring her show kickoff National Real Hair Day!

The show will air on the CW at 4:00 PM

Look what I found. .. old hair pics. . .

I was looking thru some old pics and found these I took of my hair some time ago. I had some two-strand twists in and then when they got old I loosed them out. :)

This style is great because I just used about three or four jumbo bobby pins.

I pulled the hair up on each side secured it with a pin and then used two in the front to pin my hair done.

Can I do Cantu?: My try at Cantu's Leave-in-Conditioner Repair Cream

I really think I'm becoming a product junkie :)


Anyway, went to the beauty supply store was really looking for a leave-in-conditioner. I'm always researching hair care products and have see Cantu Shea Butter Products around a lot.


So I'm walking down the aisle in the beauty store. . surrounded with all the products. . they are all saying . . "buy me!!! buy me!!!" :), then I came across Cantu's Shea Butter Leave-In-Conditioner Repair Cream.



As always, I read the back of the label. . and said. . OK I will give it a try. I haven't used a store bought leave-in for some time. I have for the most part used my staple products ( Olive Oil, Pure Shea Butter, Tea Tree Oil etc.).

Here are the product stats:

Name: Cantu Shea Butter: Leave-in-conditioning repair cream

side note. . how about I did a spell check and almost the whole "what's inside?" paragraph lit up. . ummmm lol. . dang the computer doesn't even know these words. .

Natural High Review: I liked this product a lot it can be used to just condition your hair after washing or you can use it when you are styling your hair. Its very flexible. There are some products that have special steps and requirements.

I first tried this leave-in-conditioner after I washed it and then while my hair was wet I just applied it while I was two-strand twisting.

The second time I tried it, I dry-twisted my hair, meaning I refreshed my twists and added the conditioner to it.

Smell or fragrance: It's honestly hard to describe. . but it doesn't smell bad.

The First Do: How important is Michelle Obama's hair?

Sooo my cousin emails me this article on yahoo about Michelle Obama's hair.

The headline reads "Why Michelle Obama's Hair Matters."

The article is discussing how the First Lady's hairstyles are under the microscope.

Everything from her updo's to turndown's, ponytails and curly curls have all been closely looked at in terms of her style, where she is going, and the simple question of do we like it or not?

According to this article, the question's surrounding her hair didn't just start with Mrs. Obama, but have just continued on a bigger scale. To perm or not to perm? That is the question.

So everyone is asking, " So do you think it's permed or not?" I personally haven't really been paying any attention to Mrs. Obama's hair that closely. I mean don't get me wrong I see her on the news, magazines . . etc. and either like it or don't depending on the style, but I can see why every strand on her head is counted and looked to see how it curls and lays.

I won't continue to bore you. . but the article just goes into the everyday aspects we all think about. Is it more presentable to wear your hair straight or natural, especially in the white house?

I just love this: Mahogany Greeting Cards

OK this post is not directly related to hair or beauty. . well maybe it is. . I dunno. .

Anyway, I'm sure everyone has seen those wonderful Mahogany Greeting Cards in Hallmark.


It's honestly become my one stop shop for greeting cards. Over the last few years I have given those cards out for birthdays, housewarmings, new baby's etc. I have also been thought of myself and have received some too. . :)

I just love them. It one of the only Greeting cards that speak directly to the African American consumer.


Although I haven't see all of them, what I have seen has been nice.

Here is a pic of me with one of my Mahogany cards I got for my birthday this year. It says " Your a Woman of Real Power." How nice. . :)

Braid and Twist Comb: My Favorite Braid Hairstyle
